Obituary for Margaret C. Knaub

Margaret C. Knaub 99, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2018. She resided at Menno Haven for approximately four years. She was born in Chambersburg on January 17, 1919 the daughter of Calvin and Anna (Moore) Knaub. A sister, and only sibling, Helen, preceded her in death. Margaret graduated from the Hagerstown High School in 1937 and continued her education at the Osteopathic Hospital of Philadelphia where she received her R.N. degree. Soon after graduation she went to work for the Veterans Administration. During the next 20 years she served the VA in numerous capacities and in several different locations. Following her retirement from the VA Margaret returned to Chambersburg where she was part of the opening of the Franklin county Vocational-Technical School. She established several medical courses and developed a relationship with numerous medical and dental practices in the Franklin County area who provided onsite experience for her students. Margaret also was one of the founders of the state HOSA (Health Occupation Student Association). For many years she worked tirelessly to build HOSA into the exemplary organization it is today. Margaret was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. In those years, she served as Worthy Matron of the Martha Custis Chapter Chambersburg. She held numerous appointments and elected offices in the Pennsylvania Grand Chapter of Eastern Star. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 11, 2018 at the First Lutheran Church with Pastor Jane Nicholson officiating. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church and honors by the Martha Custis Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star at 10:45 a.m. Online condolences may be expressed at sellersfuneralhome.com
