Obituary for Gordon M. Bankert
Gordon M. Bankert ,83, of Chambersburg passed away on Monday, August 6, 2018. He was born August 9, 1934 in Hanover PA, the son of the late Paul and Alverta (Burns) Bankert.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Green Township Lions Club and a former member of the Chambersburg Kiwanis and the Charles Nitterhouse Post #1599 VFW. Gordon worked as a Lutheran Minister for many years before becoming a trust officer for the Valley Bank and later F&M Trust Company.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Deetz) Bankert; two children: Jeffrey P. (Joanne) Bankert, Pamela K. Bankert; three grandchildren: Jaclyn Hilberg, Rachel Maxwell, Steven Bankert; three great grandchildren: Evelyn, Alec and Owen Hilberg; two brothers: Frederick and Terry Bankert and brother in law, Dale Bollinger.
Gordon was an avid Baltimore Orioles Baseball fan and collected the miniature John Deere Tractors
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Sharon Kelly officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
