Obituary for Luman N. Rensch Jr.

Luman Rensch, Jr. passed away September 16th, 2018, at home with family in Fayetteville, PA. Born to Luman Rensch, Sr and Ruth Welker, Luman was born in and grew up in Chambersburg with 3 other siblings: Anita, Ronnie, and David. After graduating from Chambersburg High School in the class of 1952, he served in the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier, the U.S.S. Hornet. He then studied at Penn State University, graduating in 1960. After graduation, he married Beverly Gaal. He worked for a short time at the Olmstead Airforce Base in Harrisburg, P.A. before starting a successful 25-year career with both the Executive Office of the President and the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. He retired in 1990 and returned to Pennsylvania to enjoy his time with family, friends, and Penn State football. Throughout his life, he brought joy to many with his music. He was an accomplished pianist, composer, and singer. For years he sang with the Mercersburg Choral, the United Methodist Choir and played piano for the children’s church choir. He is survived by his wife, Beverly; son and daughter, Peter and Kristin; their spouses and five adoring grandchildren. Luman was a generous, loving husband, dad, and grandfather, and his departure has left an emptiness in us all. A celebration of his life will be held at First United Methodist Church, Second Street, Chambersburg, PA on Saturday, November 3rd at 2:00 PM. A private internment will be held at the discretion of the family at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Online condolences can be sent to www.sellersfuneralhome.com.
