Samuel Baird Crooks, 81, of Chambersburg passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018. He was born on August 19, 1937 in Chicago, to the late Samuel and Evelyn (Ress) Crooks Sr. Sam attended the Presbyterian Church of the Falling Spring where he especially enjoyed the music. A Garden Railroad Enthusiast, he was a former member of the Shenandoah and Potomac Railroad Club. Sam loved to race motorcycles in the California desert and was a lifelong member of the Dirt Diggers Motorcycle Club. He was an aerospace engineer with Boeing for over 20 years. He worked on the space shuttle engine program receiving many awards for his service. Sam had a special place in his heart for animals and enjoyed seeing the various farm animals in Franklin County. Sam is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary (Mosier) Crooks; daughter Dana Harrison (Ben); grandson Ryan Harrison; son Greg Crooks; granddaughter Shree Crooks; brother Jim Crooks (Sue); brother and sister-in-laws Dottie and Leo Pfeiffer and David and Maria Theresa Mosier and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life will be held in the chapel of the Presbyterian Church of the Falling Spring on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 11:00 am.
