Nasby Ellsworth Bowen,78, of Chambersburg passed away on Friday, October 26, 2018. He was born April 14, 1940, in Chambersburg, the son of the late John E. and Virginia M. Bowen. He was a 1960 CASHS graduate, where he played varsity football. A long-time member of Salem Lutheran Church, he was also a member of the Chambersburg Club. He retired from the Chambersburg Borough as Maintenance Supervisor. He enjoyed being an umpire for all kinds of softball leagues for many years. Once a month, he hosted a card club at home, spending time with his friends. He will be remembered by many as "The Gumball Man" and the ???Patch Man??? for Bowen Historic Embroidered Patches. Nasby was formerly a member of the PA Fish Commission and loved hunting and trees. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Catherine Bowen; two daughters: Noel Bittner, Natalie Hedrick; two stepchildren: Michael Hildabridle Jr., Angela Stottlemyer and seven grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. at Salem Lutheran Church, 99 Miller Rd., Chambersburg, PA 17202 on Friday, November 9, 2018, with Rev. Denise Horn officiating.
