Nagib Maurice Khalifa MD, 81, of Chambersburg PA died Wednesday afternoon, January 16th 2019.

Born September 23, 1937 in Egypt, he was the son of Maurice and Yvette Khalifa.

He graduated from Cairo University Medical School, and later obtained a diploma of surgery. He practiced medicine in England for two years, after which he came to the US in 1969 where he did an internship at the Woman’s Medical Hospital. He completed his residency in urology at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington D.C.

In 1974, he moved with his family to Chambersburg and practiced medicine and surgery as a board certified urologist at the Chambersburg Hospital for 28 years.

Dr. Khalifa devoted his life to serving the sick and the less fortunate both at home and abroad, particularly Egypt. His life revolved around helping others and serving the community in many ways, including prison ministry. He was one of the pioneers and a faithful member of St. Mary’s Orthodox Church. After retirement, he spent much time creating beautiful stained glass and mosaic pieces as a hobby. Nagib loved to bring joy to people and was a dedicated patriarch to his extended family.

Dr. Khalifa passed away peacefully, surrounded by his beloved family. He is survived by his wife Mona, sons Sam and John, daughter Maria, daughters-in-law Nora and Gina, son-in-law John, seven granddaughters, brother Rafik and wife Sula, niece Catia, and nephew Maurice.

A viewing will be held at St. Mary Orthodox Church, located at 2063 Lincoln Way E. in Chambersburg, PA, on Tuesday, January 22nd from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. There will be a second viewing on Wednesday, January 23rd from 9:30 to 11:00 am, followed immediately by the funeral service.
