Obituary for Rose T Needy (Tschopp)

Rose T. Needy, 102, of Chambersburg passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Menno Haven. She was born on April 23, 1914 in Chanceford Township, York County, PA, the daughter of the late David and Henrietta (Trout) Tschopp. She was a member of Park Avenue UM Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, sang in the choir, participated in various music activities and was a member the UMW. Rose graduated from Red Lion HS in 1933, Penn Hall in 1936 and Lebanon Valley College in 1937. On March 15, 1939, she married Ellwood E. Needy. She was employed by Franklin and York Counties as a music teacher.
and later belonged to AARP and PASR. Music was her passion and love, but she also enjoyed traveling and later, word searches.
Rose is survived by two nieces: Jill (Mrs. Roger) Riggs, Connie (Mrs. Ralph) Sweet and many great and grand nieces and nephews; close friends Richard and Maxine (Zepp) Shull. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ellwood E. Needy; brother, David R. Tschopp and sister Margaret "Peggy" Works. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Park Avenue UM Church with: Pastor Rachel Keller, Rev. Ron McElwee, Rev. Vernon Isner and Rev. Rick Noll officiating. There will be a visitation from 1-3 p.m. at the William F. Sellers Funeral Home on Monday, July 11, 2016 and an hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial will be in Heiland View Cemetery of Red Lion Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to Menno Haven Benevolent Fund, 2075 Scotland Ave, Chbg, PA 17201 and United Methodist Home for Children, 5120 Simpson Ferry Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050.
