Obituary for John W. Elliott
John W. Elliott, 85, passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2016, at Penn Hall. He was born in Greene Township, the son of the late Walter O. and Bertha M. (Ankerbrand) Elliott. John graduated from Chambersburg High School in 1948 and Chambersburg Business School in 1949. He worked in banking for over 35 years and retired in February 1986. He was a member of Zion Reformed United Church of Christ in Chambersburg; involved in the Chambersburg Cardinal Football, Chambersburg Maroon Baseball, a past member of the Rotary Club and on the Board of Directors of the Norland Cemetery Company. He is survived by his wife, Helen D. Elliott; daughter, Linda E. (wife of David A.) Bender, of Chambersburg; three grandsons: Eric (Jennifer), Bryan (Betsy) and Alan (Lisa) Bender; one sister, Betty E. Seylar; four great-grandchildren: Ethan, Cora, Hart, Lottie; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Glenn and Wayne and two sisters: Martha Jane and Helen. Arrangements are by the William F. Sellers Funeral Home. There will be a graveside service at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2016 in Norland Cemetery, with the Rev. Jeffrey Diller and Rev.
