Obituary for Joanne B. Foltz

Joanne B. Foltz
Joanne Bair Foltz, 87, passed away on January 5, 2018. Mrs. Foltz was born in Chambersburg on June 5, 1930, daughter of the late Lionel Bair and Evelyn A. Bair Crouse. She was raised in Path Valley, PA and graduated from York Business College. On October 9, 1954 Joanne married her loving husband, Mark E. Foltz. They were blessed with a son, Matthew and a daughter, Esther. Joanne retired from Letterkenny Army Depot as a Quality Control Inspector with over 33 years of service. She enjoyed traveling, playing pinochle, and was a Pittsburgh Pirates fan. Joanne was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Falling Spring in Chambersburg from 1955 to the present. She was also a member of the Martha Curtis Chapter 342 Order of Eastern Star. She is survived by her loving daughter, Esther Swinehart, son-in-law, Timothy Swinehart; granddaughter, Emma Swinehart; and grandson, Elijah Swinehar, all of Plano, TX. She is also survived by brother-in-law Wilbur and wife, Dorcas; brother-in-law, John and wife, Virginia; and sister-in-law, Grace and husband, Berkley Chamberlin; along with many cousins; wonderful nieces and nephews; and dear long life friends. Preceding her in death, besides her parents and stepfather, Newell S. Crouse, were her husband, Mark Foltz; son, Matthew Foltz; brother, Warren Bair; and sister, Phyllis B. (Myers) Umbrell. A memorial service will be held at Presbyterian Church of Falling Spring, 221 N Main St. Chambersburg, PA 17201 at a date not yet determined. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or donor’s choice. Sellers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. A Personal Note: After Daddy and Matthew died we were so lucky that she decided to move to be near us in Texas. She spent many years as a caregiver to her mother and my dad that it was time for us to spoil her. We spent our time shopping, eating, talking, and laughing around the Dallas area. We also attended church together and watched or attended baseball games. Mom loved sitting on her screened in back porch and watching the birds and squirrels when she fed them. Mom met George W. Bush and he told her it was an honor to meet her. The twin Bush girls were also very sweet to her. Mom always loved to entertain. All that knew her loved her happy, full of laughter persona. She was the greatest mom and friend.
